The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas is a celebrated historical adventure novel filled with sword fights, romance, intrigue, loyalty, and daring exploits. The story follows d’Artagnan, a young and ambitious Gascon who travels to Paris determined to become a musketeer. There he befriends the legendary Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, and together they become involved in dangerous political conspiracies surrounding King Louis XIII, Queen Anne of Austria, and the powerful Cardinal Richelieu. Their famous motto, “All for one, one for all,” reflects the novel’s enduring themes of friendship, courage, and loyalty. Combining historical figures with imaginative adventure, Dumas creates a fast-paced tale of duels, disguises, espionage, and romance. First published in 1844, The Three Musketeers remains one of the most beloved classics of adventure literature.
